Ultrashort Optical Pulse Measurements by Inteferometric Spectrogram
نویسندگان
چکیده
We experimentally demonstrate that an interferometric spectrogram of the signal pulse can be processed differently to obtain the spectral amplitude and(or) phase profile(s). Consistency between the results obtained by frequencyresolved optical gating (FROG) and modified interferometric field autocorrelation (MIFA) methods is confirmed. We also show that the robustness of MIFA technique against measurement noise can be improved if we perform weighted average for the spectral phase profiles retrieved from different parts of the interferometric spectrogram.

Simultaneous measurement of two ultrashort laser pulses from a single spectrogram in a single shot
Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is a technique that produces a spectrogram of an ultrashort laser pulse. The intensity and phase of the ultrashort laser pulse can be determined through solving for the phase of the spectrogram with an iterative, phase-retrieval algorithm. This work presents a new phase-retrieval algorithm that retrieves both the probe and the gate pulses independently b...

Nanocomposite materials, including noble metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric host medium, are interesting because of their optical properties linked to surface plasmon resonance phenomena. For studding of nonlinear optical properties and/or energy transfer process, these materials may be excited by ultrashort pulse laser with a temporal width varying from some femtoseconds to some hund...
متن کاملReal-Time Measurement of Ultrashort Laser Pulses Using Principal Component Generalized Projections
Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is a technique to measure ultrashort laser pulses that optically constructs a spectrogram of a laser pulse. A two-dimensional (2-D) phase retrieval algorithm is used to extract the intensity and phase of a pulse from its spectrogram. We have improved a recently presented principal component generalized projections algorithm (PCGPA) making it easier to im...
متن کاملNoise sensitivity in frequency-resolved optical-gating measurements of ultrashort pulses
Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG), a technique for measuring ultrashort laser pulses, involves producing a spectrogram of the pulse and then retrieving the pulse intensity and phase with an iterative algorithm. We study how several types of noise—multiplicative, additive, and quantization—affect pulse retrieval. We define a convergence criterion and find that the algorithm converges to a...
متن کاملReconstructing Ultrashort Pulses: Frequency Resolved Optical Gating and Phase Space Functions
In the following paper, I compare and contrast methods of measuring the amplitude and phase of a short optical pulse over time with techniques that attempt a similar measurement of a optical field over space. Both approaches benefit from considering the energy of an optical wave in a phase space representation, whether in a joint time-frequency representation for short pulses or a space-spatial...
